Millinery, the art of hand-crafting hats and fascinators, is a love and passion of mine. Designing an Atelier was a dream come true, but also a challenge. In this case, the space needed to serve a dual-function: a working studio area with equipment and materials, as well as a boutique shop with a hat display and fitting area. While some business designs benefit from separating and hiding the messy areas, the choice here was to showcase the workshop. Fortunately, the equipment included many beautiful features such as vintage wooden hat blocks, industrial vintage tools, colourful felts and natural straws. The general style of the atelier, with its vintage pieces, rustic decor and Parisian vibe is streamlined with the rest of the house. Definitely one of my favorite spots in the house!
